Frantz Gheller and Xavier Lafrance will present respectively on:
Geopolitics and Agrarian Change in the St. Lawrence Valley: The Case of the British Conquest.
Beyond the ‘Bourgeois Paradigm’: Rethinking Economic and Political Development in 19th Century France.
Frantz Gheller is doctoral student and teaching assistant at the Department of Political Science, York University, Toronto. His research interests concern early modern capitalist geopolitical expansion in North America; land distribution, agricultural policies, food sovereignty and socio-territorial restructuring; contemporary social movements and democracy. He has recently published in Problématique: Journal of Political Studies and Sociologie et Sociétés.
Xavier Lafrance is post-doctoral researcher at the History of Consciousness Department, UC Santa Cruz and lecturer in political science at the Université de Montréal. His research interests concern youth precariousness and social movements in the age of austerity; capitalist development and the making of the working class in nineteenth-century France. He has recently published in Problématique: Journal of Political Studies and Cahiers de Recherche Sociologiques.
